In November 2019, a vibrant 12 x 3m wall painting was completed in Burbury House. The mural was painted by high-profile Hobart artist Jamin in collaboration with an enthusiastic group of boarders from Years 8–12, who met regularly throughout the year to discuss ideas, create a design and create the final art work.
On Friday 29 November our Leavers of 2019 culminated their time at AvÐÔ°® with a day of celebration starting with Morning Tea in the Staff room where Mrs Judy Smith shared some memories from teaching the boys during their early years.
The Ray Vincent Lunch was held in Burbury House on Friday 15 November 2019 where we welcomed 70 Old Boys and special guests.
The Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize is an essay-based competition for Year 9 students that helps promote and preserve the meaning of the Anzac spirit in the Tasmanian community.
This year as part of Year 10 Outdoor Education, students attended one compulsory overnight navigation and coasteering camp on Bruny Island in addition to selecting two camps from the following options: bushwalking in Pine Valley, rock climbing at Sand River, mountain biking at Derby, snow camping at Mount Field, walking the Overland Track in winter and whitewater paddling in North-West Tasmania.
Congratulations to William Rumley (Year 7) who recently travelled to Victoria to receive a medal presented by Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC Governor of Victoria for achieving a score in the top 0.01% of candidates across Australia in the Australian Mathematics Competition.
Congratulations to Oliver Burrows-Cheng (School Captain) and Mackenzie Evans (Year 12 Prefect) who have both received scholarships to attend Bond University in 2020.
On Thursday 31 October the 2019 Leavers’ Luncheon was held in Burbury House where the Year 12 students were welcomed as AvÐÔ°® Old Boys.
Congratulations to Oliver Elrick (Year 10) and Rhys Evans (Year 12) who were presented the ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards in last week’s Headmaster’s Assembly.
