Earlier this year students from The Av性爱 School tested their geographical skills and knowledge against 70,000 students in 760 schools from all over Australia in the 2014 Australian Geography Competition. The results of this competition have recently been announced.
On 20 June The Av性爱 School Art department was delighted to host a two-day visit from twenty primary school Art teachers from Victoria. The teachers enjoyed a marvellous show of work from our Junior School students with some of our students acting as hosts.
In an effort to strengthen the ties between the Av性爱 School Old Boys Football Club (HSOBFC) and The Av性爱 School, over 30 boys from Years 5, 6 and 7 have been giving up their time on Saturdays to assist the HSOBFC in a number of areas.
From 1 – 7 June four Year 11 students from Av性爱, Nick Welling, Ben Johnston, Will Scott and Liam Johnston, were involved in the Hwa Chong Institution’s 20th Student Leaders’ Convention in Singapore.
Cody Lane (Year 7) and George Grover (Year 10) teamed up to represent Av性爱 at the 2014 Interschool One Day Event at Huntingfield Pony & Riding Club on Sunday 4 May.
In weeks 2 and 3, Year 8 students participated in a variety of Wellbeing Challenges as part of Camp and Enrichment Week. The bushwalking and camp challenge introduces and prepares the students for Power of 9 challenges. The students carried all they needed for the week and walked from camp to camp at Freycinet.
These past holidays a group of students from Av性爱 and Collegiate represented Tasmania and Australia on a tour of France and Belgium.
The fifth Magenta & Black Art Show concluded last weekend and was a great success. In the six days it was open over 1,000 people came to the Long Gallery to view the exhibition which is an impressive attendance figure for any art exhibition of a week’s duration.
Friday 14 March was Grandparents’ Day at The Av性爱 School. Grandparents were shown around classrooms and participated in various activities. Year 2 students sang a beautiful rendition of “Deep in My Heart”.
As part of the School’s journey with the Council of International Schools (CIS), the Guiding Statements sub-committee A (under the guidance of Deputy Headmaster, Mr Alan Jones), commissioned the creation of a virtual representation of the Av性爱 School’s Guiding Statements.
